"International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and to call for gender equality. It is a day to recognize the struggles women have faced and to raise awareness of the ongoing fight for women's rights.
In the cannabis industry, women face similar challenges to those in other male-dominated industries. While women make up a significant portion of the consumer base for cannabis, they are underrepresented in leadership positions and in ownership of cannabis businesses. This can make it more difficult for women to access capital and investment opportunities.
Unfortunately, sexism is still prevalent in many industries, including the cannabis industry. Women are often not seen as leaders, and their ideas may be dismissed or overlooked. This can lead to a lack of confidence and difficulty advancing in their careers. Men may also feel threatened by women in leadership positions, leading to a toxic workplace environment.
It is important to continue raising awareness about sexism and pushing for policies and practices that promote gender equality and diversity in the workplace. Everyone has a role to play in creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for women and other underrepresented groups.
The last few years I struggled with my confidence until I removed myself from the environment to remember why I started this company, to be a voice for women, and to be a voice for equality.
